Mikey’s Gives Back Through Feeding America
Thirty-seven million people in the U.S. face hunger every day. Now with many Americans out of work due to Covid-19, that number is undoubtedly higher.
At Mikey’s, we wanted to do our small part to give back during this devastating time for so many families. In order to make our dollars go further, we teamed up with our equity partner Factory LLC and our friends at Pipcorn, Stuffed Puffs and Honey Stinger to make a collective donation of $100,000 in cash and kind to provide a total of 1 million meals to Feeding America.
We made our donation through Meals Up, a program launched by Wheels Up, a private aviation provider. Wheels Up covered all the administrative costs so that 100 percent of our donation will go towards providing meals.
“When Factory asked if we would consider making a donation, I didn’t hesitate,” said Mike Tierney, founder of Mikey’s. “Feeding America is a fantastic organization, and I’m grateful that we were in a position to support them during this trying time.”
Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organization in the U.S., with a network of food banks across the country. Each year, Feeding America donates 4 billion meals to Americans in need at a cost of 10 cents per meal. In response to Covid-19, the organization is distributing emergency food boxes and holding drive-through and outdoor food bank pickups to maximize social distancing. Additionally, the food banks are working with school districts to provide meals for students who typically rely on schools for breakfast and lunch during the school week.
